Box Score Anderson, S.C. – After 85 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Anderson University Trojans (2-2) tallied the game's lone goal to defeat the Erskine Flying Fleet (3-2) 1 to 0 in non-conference men's soccer action at Trojan Stadium.
With just five minutes remaining, Anderson's Magnus Larson headed a cross by Andre Carle that teammate William Treichler tipped pass the Erskine goalkeeper
Fiore Costa (Niagara Falls, Ontario, St. Paul Catholic Secondary School) for the game-winning goal.
Both teams struggled to produce quality scoring opportunities. While Anderson produced more shots than Erskine at a 16 to 4 advantage, the Erskine defense kept the Trojans from placing those on target as only four were on goal. Costa finished with 3 saves while Anderson's goalkeeper Bo Haug had one save.
This game represented the first point awarded in the Beville Cup competition between the two institutions.
Erskine returns home on Saturday to play conference foe Lees-McRae College. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
