HOW IT HAPPENED
A pair of goals from SWU inside the opening three minutes forced the Fleet to play from behind for almost the entirety of the match. Erskine regained some control after its slow start and the 2-0 scoreline remained through halftime. However, the Warriors scored again in the early stages of the second half. In the 61st minute, freshman winger
Connor Blake converted a penalty kick for his first Erskine goal and got the Fleet on the board as they searched for a late rally. Blake and
Dane Weaver each had shots in the 71st and 77th minute, respectively, but the slow start proved too much for the Fleet to be able to overcome on Wednesday.
THE TEAM
Erskine was outshot by Southern Wesleyan 24 to 7, and the Warriors had a 10 to 2 advantage in shots on target. SWU was whistled for 14 fouls to Erskine's three and the hosts were issued three of the five yellow cards in the match.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine comes home for the final time in the regular season and takes on Converse University (6-3-5, 4-1-4 CC) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
