Box Score Due West S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (7-5-2) defeated the Braves of UNC Pembroke (5-5-3) 2 to 1 in dramatic fashion tonight in non-conference men's soccer action at Huggins Field.
 
With time running out, Erskine's Luke Boyce (Bungay, Suffolk, Bungay High) served a corner kick to the front of the Braves goal.  In the frenzy that followed, the ball bounced to Erskine's Joe O'Neill (Lichfield, United Kingdom, Friary High School) whose last second desperation shot found the back of the net, giving the Fleet the improbable win with just two seconds remaining.
 
After a scoreless first half, UNC Pembroke struck first in the 53rd minute.  UNC-Pembroke's Kevin Vigebo forwarded a long pass that teammate Sam Miles settled and shot past the diving Erskine goalkeeper Nicholas Willenborg (Niceville, FL, Niceville High School). 
 
Willenborg, who made his first start of the season, made several fantastic saves in the opening period to preserve the scoreless tie.  Willenborg finished 8 saves on 17 shots.
 
Later in the half, Erskine's Ugo Galtier (Corenc, France, Lycee de la Venise Vente) sent a gem into the box towards a racing Andrew Settlemire (Beaufort, SC, Beaufort High School). Settlemire finished it off with a header to square up the contest at one goal each.  For Settlemire, it was his tenth goal of the season.  Settlemire would just miss another header attempt a few minutes later, shooting just wide of the goal.
 
In the later parts of the second half, the physicality and pace of the game got ramped up, resulting in four yellow cards, two to each team, to be issued by the referee.
 
The Braves fired off 17 shots while the Fleet had 9. 
 
Erskine returns to action this Saturday on the road to face King University in a pivotal Conference Carolinas match up. Game time is set for 3:00 P.M.
