Box Score Belmont, N.C. – Playing in a steady downpour, the Erskine Flying Fleet (3-3-1, 2-0) scored the game-winning goal with less than eleven minutes left to play to edge the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College 1 to 0 in Conference Carolinas men's soccer action at Alumni Field.
Sophomore
Ross Henderson (Lincoln, England, William Farr C of E) broke the scoreless tie when he broke free and beat the Abbey keeper Kyle Searles one-on-one. For Henderson, it was his second goal of the season.
On the defensive side, Erskine goalkeeper
Roberto De La Vina (Oviedo, Spain, San Ignacio) recorded 9 saves on 17 shots to stretch his scoreless streak to 360 minutes. It is the third consecutive shutout for De La Vina and the Flying Fleet.
The Abbey held a one shot advantage in shots at 17 to 16.
Erskine will step out of conference this weekend to host Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday. Kick-off is set for 4:30 p.m.
