Erskine gets 2nd chance with Pfeiffer

Due West, S.C. – Pfeiffer University returns to Due West for a second time this Friday evening to play the Flying Fleet in the semi-final round of the Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.

Earlier this season, Pfeiffer shocked Erskine 2-1 before a Homecoming crowd.  The loss was the Fleet's only blemish in conference play.  In that game, Pfeiffer's Nathan Regis scored two goals and goalkeeper Nicholas Dulac held the Fleet scoreless in the second half.

Erskine, the #1 seed, defeated #8 Mt. Olive College on Tuesday night 2 to 1.  The Fleet (12-5-1) had to overcome adversity, playing a man down for most of the second half, to advance to the next round.  Erskine caught a break with five minutes remaining, when Mt. Olive pulled down Erskine's Jack Power in the penalty box.  Senior Jonathan Rutter blasted home the ensuing kick and the Fleet won 2 to 1.

#5 Pfeiffer (10-8-1) enters the match up having upset #4 Lees-McRae College on Tuesday night 3 to 2.  The Falcons scored the game-winning goal with just 8 minutes left to play to topple the favored Bobcats.

The winner of Friday's game will advance to the championship game to be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the higher seed.
Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m. and admission is free.
