Henderson scores two goals in Erskine's 3-1 win

Box Score Pembroke, N.C. – Erskine's Ross Henderson (Lincoln, England, William Farr C of E) scored two goals as the Fleet slayed the Braves of UNC-Pembroke 3-1 tonight in non-conference men's soccer action at the Varsity Grounds.

All the game's goals were scored in the first thirty minutes of play, three within six minutes. The Fleet (9-4-1) scored the game's first two goals. In the 11th minute, Henderson blasted a shot from 38 yards out that shot over the keeper's head.

Erskine added another goal just three minutes later. Junior Victor Nirennold (Rennes, France, Lycee Emile Zola) slipped a pass to Silvio Braun (Munich, Germany, Adolf Weber Gymnasium) on the left side, who shot it off the post into the goal.

Just two minutes later, UNC-Pembroke (7-6-1) tallied their goal as Reece Rooney nailed the ball off the cross bar into the goal.

The Fleet ended the game's scoring in the 29th minute off a free kick. Erskine's Jonathan Rutter (Birmingham, England, Fairfax) found Henderson, who one-timed it into the goal for his 8th goal of the year.

The Fleet stymied the Braves in the second half, limiting them to just 9 shots with only one being on goal.

Erskine has now won six games in a row and eight of their last nine games.

Erskine hosts conference foe Pfeiffer University this Saturday for Homecoming. Kick-off is set for 4:30 p.m.
