Tigerville, SC – The Erskine Men’s Soccer Team came up a goal short tonight against North Greenville University, losing on the road 2-1. The loss drops the Flying Fleet to 4-3-1 overall and 2-2 in conference while North Greenville evens their record at 4-4 overall and climbs to 3-2 in conference.
Both teams missed out on scoring opportunities until late in the first half when the Crusaders’ Alex Redding put the Crusaders on the board with his second goal of the season on an assist from Mark Sterr.
Erskine tied the score in the opening minutes of the second half on a header by
Andrew Settlemire (Beaufort, SC, Beaufort High School). Sophomore
Jonathan Rutter (Birmingham, England, Fairfax) was credited with the assist. It was Settlemire’s fourth goal of the season.
North Greenville quickly bounced back scoring the game-winning goal six minutes (54 minute) later. North Greenville held on for the 2-1 victory despite being outshot in the second half 10-6. Overall Erskine had a one shot advantage on the night at 14-13.

Erskine steps out of the conference to host Young Harris College on Saturday. Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
