Erskine blanks St. Andrews 3-0

Laurinburg, NC – Erskine played 24 players in a 3-0 victory over the Knights of Saint Andrews University in Conference Carolinas men’s soccer action at Knights Field.  Erskine climbs to 4-2-1 overall and 2-1 in conference.  On the other side, St. Andrews University tumbles to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in conference.

Erskine held a 1-0 lead at halftime.  Freshman forward Luke Boyce (Lincoln, England) recorded his fourth goal of the season in the 36th minute for the only score of the half.  Both teams had 6 shots in the first half.

Erskine freshman Peter Savarese (Hilton Head, SC, Hilton Head Christian Academy) added to the Fleet tally with his first collegiate goal early in the second half.  Savarese beat his defender on the right side and slipped the ball nicely into the far left corner to put Erskine up 2-0.

The Flying Fleet scored again late in the game when senior Brady Johnson (Charleston, SC, West Ashley High School) found teammate Dylan Goodale (Vienna, VA, George C. Marshall High School) in front of the goal for the Fleet’s final goal of the day.   The goal was the freshman’s third goal of the year.

Sophomore Roberto De La Vina (Oviedo, Spain, San Ignacio)recorded his third win in the goal facing 10 shots with 4 saves.

Erskine travels to Tigerville, South Carolina, on Wednesday to play North Greenville University.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
