Jack Kimber (Manchester, England, Priestnall High School)directed a second half comeback by scoring a goal and assisting on the other as #6 seed Erskine stunned #3 Barton College 2-1 in the 1
st round of the Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament at the Barton Soccer Field.
Barton took a 1-0 lead in the 35
th minute of the first half on a goal by Jonathan Rembecki, his third of the season. Both teams had 6 shots in the half.
Midway through the second half, Kimber found
Brady Johnson (Charleston, SC, West Ashley High School) at the top of the box who blasted a shot that hit the crossbar and into the goal. For Johnson, it was his first goal of the season.
Ten minutes later, freshmen
Andrew Settlemire (Beaufort, SC, Beaufort High School) made a nice pass to the top of the box to Kimber who promptly slammed the ball into the right-side for the game-winning goal. It was Kimber’s seventh goal of the season.
Erskine held a slight edge in shots 13-11 while Barton had the advantage on corner kicks at 8-3.

Roberto De La Vina (Oviedo, Spain, San Ignacio) earned 6 saves on 11 shots.
Erskine advances to play defending conference champions and #2 seed Lees-McRae College on Friday. Game time is yet to be announced.
Erskine lost to Barton in the regular season 2-1 in overtime.
