Belmont, NC – Erskine lost their last regular season game 3-0 to Belmont-Abbey in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer action at Alumni Field.  Erskine drops to 6-10 overall and 5-7 in conference while Belmont-Abbey climbs to 11-7 overall and 10-2 in conference.

The Crusaders exploded to score all three goals in the first twenty-five minutes of the game.  The first goal came in the 5^th minute when Rebecca Mateo placed a high-arcing shot from the left side into the upper corner over the Erskine goalkeeper.   The Abbey followed up with their second goal just two minutes later on a goal by Nicole Voets.  Teammate Alana Rycek crossed the ball and Voets sealed off her defender and redirected the ball into the goal.  In the 24^th minute, Rycek earned her second assist of the game on a pass to Brandi Clark who shot the ball upper corner of the goal.

Despite the loss, the Fleet earned the 8^th seed into the Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament.  The Fleet will travel to play #1 seed Lees-McRae College on Monday.  Game time has not yet been announced by the host institution.
