Due West, SC – Before a large Homecoming crowd, Erskine pounded out 23 shots in route to a 3-1 victory over the Falcons of Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas men’s soccer action at Huggins Field.
The victory improves the Fleet record to 8-6-1 overall and 6-4 in conference while the Falcons drop to 2-12-1 overall and 1-6-1 in conference. More importantly, the win secures Erskine a spot in the Conference Carolinas postseason tournament with one game remaining.
Senior
Cade Weatherly (Lexington, SC, Lexington High School) scored his first goal of the season on a cross from
P.C. Henry (Myrtle Beach, SC, Myrtle Beach Christian) to put the Fleet up 1-0 in the first half.
Erskine secured the victory scoring two goals within a six minute span. In the 62th minute, freshman
Andrew Settlemire (Beaufort, SC, Beaufort High School) netted his team-leading 9
th goal of the season on an assist from teammate
Luke Boyce (Lincoln, England). Six minutes later, Boyce earned another assist after his shot was knocked down by the Pfeiffer Zach Liles. Senior
Eric Moxley (Clemson, SC, Walhalla High School) pushed the rebound into the goal to put the Fleet up 3-0.
Pfeiffer spoiled the possible Fleet shutout when Ben Lloyd got pass his defender on the left side and placed the ball nicely in the far corner.
Erskine steps out of conference this Wednesday to play archrival Anderson University at 7:30 p.m.
