Fleet Fall to Anderson 3 to 1

Anderson, SC – The Flying Fleet saw their 3-game win streak snapped by archrival Anderson University at Trojan Stadium losing 3 to 1.  Anderson improves to 5-4-1 on the season while the Fleet drop to 5-3.

Both teams had scoring opportunities early in the contest but failed to convert.  Erskine had a goal nullified by an offside’s call and, just a few minutes later, Anderson had a goal taken off the board as well.

Anderson scored all three of their goals within a seven minute stretch.  The Trojans scored their first goal in the 28th minute when Zach Denson found Clement Samson who slipped the ball past Erskine goalkeeper Roberto De La Vina (Oviedo, Spain, Sam Igmacio).  Vina finished with 6 saves.  Just two minutes later, the Trojans scored again to take a 2-0 lead.  Anderson added their third goal on a direct kick by Adrien Moufflet at the 34th minute.

The Fleet scored quickly to open the second half.  Jonathan Rutter's corner kick was misplayed by the Trojans giving the Fleet their lone score.  It was Rutter's third goal of the season. Unfortunately, the Fleet found few scoring opportunities the rest of the game.

The Fleet were outshot 15-7.

The Fleet return home to Huggins Field for their next contest against Queens University this Saturday, October 2nd.  Kick-off is set for 4:30 p.m.
