Brevard Pulls Away From Fleet

Brevard, NC- Erskine men’s soccer dropped their third game of the season to the Brevard College Tornados Tuesday evening 3-1.  Erskine sophomore Eric Moxley scored the only goal for Erskine during the tough loss.  Erskine now stands at 0-3-1 while Brevard improves to 1-4.

The Tornados struck early as Renato Barbosa scored off a cross from teammate Lanvik Larsen only ten minutes into the match.  Both teams were forced to leave the field due to lightening about ten minutes later.  Upon returning to action, Brevard struck again.  This time is t was Craig Galloway who scored from 30-yards out.

Erskine and Moxley struck back with ten minutes remaining in the first period to bring the Fleet to within one.  Both teams tightened up on the defensive end and the period ended with a 2-1 Brevard advantage.

The Fleet came out of the half-time break strong, but unable to convert for the tie.  The entire second half was a battle for control with neither team able to find the back of the net.  That is until Brevard’s Larsen struck in the 88th minute to give the Tornados the 3-1 win.

Erskine goalkeeper Devon Braykovich posted eight saves on the evening while Brevard’s Jack Shaw posted six.

Erskine will return to action this Saturday as they travel to Lees-McRae College for an in-conference match.
