Belmont, NC- Erskine women’s soccer upset top-seeded Belmont Abbey 1-0 Saturday afternoon as freshman Emily Brown tapped in a goal mid-way through the second half. After this exciting win, Erskine ends the regular season with a 7-9-1 overall record and 4-6-0 among Conference Carolinas opponents.
Belmont Abbey out-shot the Fleet 10-2 and held a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks, but could not find the back of the net on Saturday. The Fleet capitalized on their limited scoring opportunities in the 63rd minute as Brown received a cross from Lindsay Patterson and put the game away with the only goal of the game.
Erskine handed the Abbey only their 5th loss of the season. The Abbey now stands at 11-5 overall and 9-2 among conference opponents. Despite the loss, Belmont Abbey still heads into the conference tournament ranked #1.
Erskine heads into the post-season ranked #6 and will play on the road at #3 Anderson University Monday evening at 7:00 PM.
