Men's Soccer Fall to Crusaders 1-0

Belmont, NC- Belmont Abbey squelched Erskine’s hopes for a post-season berth Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Fleet 1-0.  After a valiant defensive effort, the Fleet end their season 5-11-2 overall and 2-7-1 among Conference Carolinas opponents.

Erskine played a very strong defensive game led by goal-keeper Devon Braykovich who posted 6 saves on the afternoon.  The Fleet were able to hold off the Abbey until the 68th minute of play when Emmanual Yamson struck for what would be the game winning goal off a feed from Aaron Weldon.

Erskine had a couple of chances to gain the equalizer, but were unable to convert.  The Fleet were out-shot 11-9 and fell behind in corner kicks 8-3.

The Crusaders, now 10-7-1 overall and 4-6 among Conference Carolinas opponents, move on to the Conference Carolinas Tournament as the #6 seed where they will face #3 Pfeiffer.  The Fleet have been eliminated from post-season play and will begin to regroup for the spring season.
