Men's Soccer Spoil Queens Senior Day

Charlotte, NCErskine men’s soccer spoiled Senior Day at the Queens University Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Royals 2-1.  With the win, the Fleet improve to 4-8-2 while Queens slips to 5-6-1.

Erskine’s Alex Connally put Erskine up 1-0 in the first half as he headed the ball in off a serve from Jack Kimber.  Erskine took the lead into the break.

The second half made for a heated battle with seven yellow cards during the physical second 45 minutes of play.  Queens’ Tyler Miller tied the match at one a piece as he received a cross from Michael Lurn and fired a shot past Erskine’s keeper during the 55th minute of play.

Erskine’s Kimber put the match in the books for the Fleet as he connected for the game winning goal in the 81st minute with a shot that bounced off the cross bar and into the back of the net.

Queens out-shot the Fleet 15-12, but could not connect to tie the match. 

Erskine goalkeeper Devon Braykovich tallied six saves on the evening while Queens’ Chris Raines had eight. 

Erskine will return to play this coming Wednesday as they play host to North Greenville University.  Kick off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
