Bobcats down fatigued Fleet 4 to 1

Box Score Due West, S.C. — Playing for the second day in a row, Erskine surrendered three second half goals in a 4 to 1 loss to conference foe Lees-McRae College tonight at Huggins Field.

The game stood tied 1 to 1 at halftime.  Erskine tallied the game's first goal in the 24th minute.  Freshman Kate Harrington (Chapin, SC, Chapin High School) played a ball through the Lees-McRae back line that Katherine Coleman (Martinez, GA, Lakeside High School) corralled then beat the LMC goalkeeper.  For Coleman, it was her second goal of the season.

Six minutes later LMC returned the favor as Lena Langille sprinted through the Fleet defense to receive a pass from teammate Erica Allen for the Bobcat's first goal.

Three minutes into the second half the Bobcats took the lead 1 to 2 when their second goal came off of one of Erskine's own players.  Allen's pass into the front of the goal deflected off an Erskine defender into the goal.  Coach Winchester acknowledged after the game that is when he saw the effects of last night's game really take hold.

The Bobcats scored two more goals against Erskine finalizing the score 1 to 4.

Erskine's game was primarily a defensive one.  Lees-McRae made a total of twenty-two shots on goal, while Erskine only managed three; further displaying that the Fleet was not playing anywhere close to their full potential or ability.

Coach Winchester also stated that Lees-McRae is currently ranked in the top three Conference Carolinas teams.  Erskine would not have had an easy battle even if the team had the ability to play at one hundred percent.

Erskine will step out of conference this Wednesday to play St. Andrews College starting at 4:00 p.m.
