High Point, NC – Erskine's Austin Gambrell has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week during week one of the 2013 - 2014 baseball season.

In the season opener for Erskine, Austin came out and shutdown an Anderson offense that had scored 18 runs in a three game weekend series. Gambrell retired the first seven batters he faced before giving up a single in the third inning. After the single, he would then retire the next thirteen batters he faced. Neither of the two runners he allowed to reach base advanced past first. For the game Austin through seven shut out innings, striking out seven and walking just one and allowing one hit.
