HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: UNC Pembroke 3-2 Erskine (Final / 7 innings)
After a slow start proved costly in the series opener on Friday, Erskine took an early lead in the second inning of Game 2 of the series, thanks to an RBI single from
Pierce Radke in the second inning. Starting pitcher
Blake Holshouser kept the Braves offense quiet through the first five innings of the game, and a wild pitch allowed
Quinn Allen to score, extending the Fleet's lead to 2-0 after five frames. However, UNC Pembroke scored three times in the sixth to go in front, as the Fleet were stunned late in the first game of the day.
Game 2: UNC Pembroke 7-2 Erskine
The back half of the doubleheader saw the hosts continue upon the momentum they found in the end of the first game of the day, as UNCP scored in second, third, and fourth innings to put the Fleet in a sizeable hole. Erskine got on the board in the sixth on an RBI single from
Jacob Platt and scored again in the eighth, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome in the series finale.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine has its final road game of the regular season, visiting rival Lander University (33-13, 20-4 PBC) on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
