Box Score Misenheimer, N.C. – After playing a great defensive game against conference-leading Converse College on Wednesday, the Erskine Flying Fleet (2-7, 1-4) surrendered four second-half goals to the Falcons of Pfeiffer University (5-5, 3-1) this afternoon to lose 5 to 0 in Conference Carolinas women's soccer action at NE Lefko Field.
On Wednesday, Erskine's defense held Converse College, the conference's leading scoring team, to just one goal which came in overtime off a penalty kick.
In the first half, Erskine's defense was superb, forcing the majority of Pfeiffer's shots from long-range and off-target. Pfeiffer fired 25 shots in the half, but could only place ten on goal and scored just once. Erskine goalkeeper Ashton Burgess handled nine of those shots for nine saves. Pfeiffer's first half goal came in the 31
st minute when Aaliyah Jackson broke through the Fleet back line to tally the goal.
Pfeiffer struck quickly to open the second period, scoring three of their four second-half goals in the first 18 minutes. Pfeiffer's Jackson notched her second goal of the game just six minutes into the second half. The Falcons added two more goals in the next ten minutes, shocking the Flying Fleet.
Pfeiffer added their last goal late in the game to make the final score 5 to 0.
Erskine hosts Belmont Abbey College next Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
