Erskine loses to Converse in OT 1-0

Box Score Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (2-6, 1-3) held conference-leading Converse College Valkyries (8-1, 4-0) scoreless through regulation before losing on a penalty kick 1-0 in overtime.

In the seventh minute of overtime (97th minute), Erskine was called for a hand ball in the penalty box.  Converse's Natalie Johnson ripped a shot into the upper right corner just out of reach of Erskine's diving goalkeeper Ashton Burgess.

Converse dominated the shot total on the night but the Erskine defense, led by Burgess, kept the Valkyries off the board.  Converse launched 30 shots, including three in overtime, but placed less than half on goal.  Burgess handled those shots on goal recording a season-high 13 saves.

Erskine travels to Misenheimer, North Carolina, this Saturday to play the Falcons of Pfeiffer University (4-5, 2-1).  Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
