Box Score Central, SC – In tonight's season opener, Erskine (0-1) lost to in-state rival Southern Wesleyan (1-0) 3 to 1 in non-conference women's soccer action at Childs Field.

Southern Wesleyan tallied the game's first goal with less than three minutes left in the opening period then added two more goals in the second half.  Erskine scored midway through the second half on a blast by Jamie Morris (Columbia, SC, Blythewood High School), her first of the season.

Erskine held a slight edge in shots at 13 to 11 but could not put the ball on target. 

SWU's goalkeeper Krista Anoine recorded three saves while the Fleet's goalkeeper Ashton Burgess (Greenwood, SC, Emerald High School) had one save.

Erskine will look to rebound this Saturday against South Atlantic Conference foe Brevard College.  Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
