Box Score Wilson, N.C. – The Erskine Women's Soccer Team (1-5, 1-0) beat the Bulldogs of Barton College (3-3-1, 0-1) 1 to 0 this afternoon to snap a fourteen game losing streak that stretched back to the last nine games of the previous season.
Sophomore
Jennifer Deppen (Martinez, GA, Evans High School), a defender, scored the game-winner in the 68
th minute on a long free kick just inside the far post. For Deppen, it was her first collegiate goal.
Erskine goalkeeper
Ashton Burgess (Greenwood, SC, Emerald High School) recorded her first shutout of the season, facing 19 shots and earning 10 saves. It is the fourth game in a row that Burgess has recorded double-digit saves.
Barton outshot Erskine 19 to 6 and held a commanding advantage in corner kicks at 13 to 1.
Erskine will travel to Belmont, North Carolina, to play conference foe Belmont Abbey College on Wednesday. Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
