Box Score Due West, S.C. – Coach Derek Schmitt’s squad kept their aspirations of hosting a first round game in the conference tournament alive by downing Barton convincingly 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-22) in men’s volleyball action. Erskine (8-8, 5-6) stays within a game of fourth place Limestone College.
The Fleet had three players reach double-digits in kills, led by Mike Michelau’s 15 kills.
Mike Kawa (Debica, Poland, Elk Grove High School) had 11 kills on just 21 attempts for a 52.4% hitting percentage while
Omar Melendez (San Juan, P.R.) added 10 kills. Setter
Corey Marks (Southwest Ranches, FL, Archbishop Edward McCarthy High School) earned another double-double on the season with 36 assists and 10 digs.
Michael Schneck (Milwaukee, WI, Marquette University High School) had 12 digs to anchor the back row for the Fleet.
Barton had difficulty scoring as Erskine limited the Bulldogs to just a .024 hitting percentage. Cameron Hudson led Barton with 7 kills.
Erskine hosts Lourdes College this Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
