Erskine picks up 1-0 road win over Mt. Olive College

Box Score Mount Olive, NC – Erskine goalkeeperKatie Lyle (Duluth, GA, Peachtree Ridge High School) recorded 10 saves in route to her third shutout of the season and freshman Hayley Rogers (West Columbia, SC, Lexington High School) scored the game’s lone goal as the Flying Fleet won on the road against the Trojans of Mount Olive College 1-0 in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer action at Amon Field.

With the victory, Erskine remains atop the conference standings at a perfect 3-0 and evens their overall record at 3-3-1.  Mount Olive College drops to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in conference.

The game’s lone goal came in the fifteenth minute as Rogers beat the Trojan goalkeeper to the ball off a pass from Emily Brown (Clemson, SC, Daniel High School).  The Fleet managed to produce only six more shots with only one shot coming in the second half.  For Rogers, it was her third goal of the season and her second game-winning goal.

In goal, Lyle stymied the Trojan attack recording her 10 saves on 17 shots, including 11 shots in the second half.

Erskine travels to Gaffney, South Carolina, on Wednesday to play the Saints of Limestone College.  Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
