Box Score Due West, S.C. – Belmont Abbey broke a scoreless tie in the 63
rd minute to win 1-0 over the Erskine Flying Fleet today at Huggins Field in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer action.
Belmont Abbey’s Kristin Foster centered the ball to Brandi Clark, who pivoted to fire the ball into the upper right corner of the goal for her second score of the season.
Belmont Abbey controlled the ball through the second half not allowing the Fleet a shot while firing off eight shots, including the game winner. For the game, Erskine had 2 shots to Belmont Abbey’s 11 shots.
Belmont Abbey also held a huge advantage in corner kicks at 13 to 1 with 10 coming in the second half.
The first half ended in a stalemate with neither team mounting much offense, only 5 shots combined, none of which were a serious threat to score.
