Erskine Women's Soccer loses to LMC 4-0

Banner Elk, NC – The Erskine lost 4-0 tonight to Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer action at Tate Field.  The Flying Fleet, winners of their last two games, slip to 6-7 overall and 5-5 in conference while the Bobcats remain undefeated in conference at 10-0 and improve to 11-2-1 overall.

In the first half, Erskine kept the game close surrendering only one goal despite allowing 13 shots.  In the 24th minute, Lees-McRae’s Meagan Thornton slipped the ball through to Vickie Rich at the 18, who placed the ball just beyond Erskine goalkeeper Katie Lyle’s reach.

Just before half, Erskine’s Ashley Reeves (Zebulon, GA, Pike County High School) put a shot on goal but the Lees-McRae goalkeeper Kaitlyn Briggs picked it off for the save.

Lees-McRae took control of the game in the second half scoring three goals on twelve shots while limiting Erskine to just two shots.

Katie Lyle (Duluth, GA, Peachtree Ridge High School) recorded 9 saves on 25 shots for the game.

Erskine hosts their final home game this Saturday against Pfeiffer University.  Prior to kick-off, Erskine will honor their five senior players:   Sam Collier (Columbia, SC, Ridge View High School), Bailey Miller (Greenwood, SC, Greenwood High School), Chinaka Springer (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Louisiana Tech University), Talisa Vire (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Providence Girls School), and Emily Wentzky (Anderson, SC, T.L. Hanna High School).  Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
