Stephanie Gauthier (Irmo, SC, Dutch Fork High School) scored her first goal of the season in overtime to give Erskine a 1-0 victory over the Bulldogs of Barton College in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer action. Erskine evens their record at 6-6 overall and is 5-4 in conference. Barton falls to 3-9 overall and 2-7 in conference.
Gauthier scored the game-winner midway through the overtime period on a pass from junior
Molly Harpe (Anderson, SC, T.L. Hanna High School). It was Harpe’s team-leading fourth assist on the season.
The Flying Fleet outshot the Bulldogs 18-9 on the night.
In the first half, Barton’s goalkeeper Carson Moore made two nice saves to preserve the scoreless tie. In the 24
th minute, Harpe blasted a shot that Moore saved and a few minutes later sophomore
Victoria Bruce (Gladehill, VA, Franklin County High School) took a shot from within the box that Moore stopped.
Moore finished with 8 saves while allowing the one goal. Erskine’s goalkeeper
Katie Lyle (Duluth, GA, Peachtree Ridge High School) earned the shutout victory, tallying 5 saves in the victory.
Erskine travels to Banner Elk, North Carolina, on Wednesday to play conference-leading Lees-McRae College. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
