Lady Fleet Pull Out Dramatic OT Win Over Barton

Wilson, NC —  Erskine freshman Molly Harpe (Anderson, SC) scored in the 105th minute Saturday evening to give visiting Erskine College a 1-0, double-overtime women's soccer victory over Barton College.
Harpe's goal came off a centering pass from freshman Kimrey Angotti-Smith (Goose Creek, SC) five minutes, 35 seconds into the second 10-minute overtime. Harpe corraled the pass and ripped a left-footed shot just inside the right post — and past diving Barton keeper Angelina Lovette (Lillington, NC).
Barton slipped to 1-6-1 overall and 1-2-1 in Conference Carolinas play while Erskine exited at 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the league. Barton plays at Lees-McRae College and Erskine entertains Limestone in 5 p.m. tilts this Wednesday.
The Lady Bulldogs, who were celebrating Fall Family Weekend, put some pressure on junior Erskine goalie Si'Ara Washington (Mt. Pleasant, SC) in the early going, then the Flying Fleet controlled the tempo in the middle portion of the match. Late in regulation, Barton had several great shot attempts from sophomore Hilary Peterson (Hampstead, NC) and senior Dillon Sauls (Wilson, NC), but couldn't find the net.
Erskine finished with a 12-11 advantage in shots, including an 8-5 edge in shots on goal. Washington made five saves and Lovette had six.
