GREENVILLE, S.C. - Conference Carolinas officially unveiled its 2023 men's volleyball all-conference honors ahead of the Carolinas Men's Volleyball Championship semifinals on Friday, April 18, at the Student Center Complex on the campus of King University.
The all-conference awards were chosen by the league's head coaches.Â
Junior outside hitterÂ
Kacper Rybarczyk was selected as the Conference Carolinas men's volleyball Offensive Player of the Year. In helping to lead Erskine to the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament, Rybarczyk averaged a conference second-best 4.42 points per set in league play while also hitting .348. He averaged 3.81 kills per set in conference matches. The Warsaw, Poland native was also among the top-10 in the conference in aces per set at 0.28.
Setter
Francisco Pomar joined Rybarczyk as representatives of the Flying Fleet on the First Team. Pomar averaged 10.93 assists per set in league play and totaled a team-leading 23 aces, helping him earn Conference Carolinas Specialist of the Week honors four separate times this season.
A redshirt junior outside hitter from Joliet, Illinois,
Edgerrin Austin was named to the Second Team after leading the Fleet with 3.35 kills per set and was named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week following a 22-kill performance against Central State earlier this season.
A redshirt junior opposite hitter from New Lenox, Illinois,
Jason Sall earned a spot on the Third Team this season, averaging 3.13 kills per set in conference play and totaling 22 aces on the season. Sall was also second on the team with 1.64 digs per set in 2023.
Mount Olive duo Trevor Treser (Defensive Player of the Year) and Jackson Lahey (Freshman of the Year) also earned individual accolades, while Lees-McRae's Sam Albus was named Coach of the Year.
