Clemson, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (2-5, 1-3) picked up their first conference win today, defeating in-state conference foe Southern Wesleyan University 6 to 3 in men's tennis action at Nettles Park.
The Flying Fleet staked themselves to an early 2 to 1 lead after the completion of the doubles matches.
Jason Harris (Benoni, South Africa, Christian Brothers College) and
Wilson Mathewes (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) won at #1 doubles for the sixth straight time, defeating their foes 8 to 5.
Alan Pearce (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) and
Andre Andre (Setubal, Portugal) picked up the second point at #2 doubles with an 8 to 3 victory.
Erskine won four of the six singles. Harris and Andre won in straight sets while Pearce and Eddie Gullino both overcame first set losses to win in three sets.
After playing their last four matches on the road, the Flying Fleet return home to play Georgia Regents University-Augusta on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
