Box Score Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (1-9) lost in overtime 16 to 14 to the Hawks of Shorter University (3-5) in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Huggins Field.
After taking a 5 to 1 lead in the first half, Erskine led until the final three minutes of the game. With Erskine leading by one, Shorter scored three unanswered goals to take a one goal lead. Shorter's Crystal Marshall tied the game at 13 to 13 with just under two minutes remaining, then fifteen seconds later Mia Wiggins scored to give Shorter their first lead of the game at 14 to 13.

Samantha Burns (Hilton Head Island, SC, Hilton Head Island High School) ran through the Shorter defense to tie the game at 14 to 14 and force overtime. It was Burns' sixth goal of the game.
In the overtime period, Shorter made the most of their two shots, scoring on both attempts. The Fleet managed to get off three shots but failed to score.
Erskine opened the game with a 5 to 1 run, snapping over a 120 minute scoreless streak. Burns scored the game's first goal off a pass from teammate
Alexandria Butler (Hilton, NY, Hilton Central High School). After Shorter tied it at 1 to 1, Erskine scored the next four goals, including two more goals by Burns.

Konstandena Brown (Wilmington, NC, John T. Hoggard High School) had a good game in the pipes, recording 13 goals on 34 shots.
Shelby Beverly led the Hawks with 4 goals while Alex Abby came off the bench to contribute a goal and three assists.
Erskine travels to face in-state non-conference foe Coker College on Thursday. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
