Anderson, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (0-4, 0-2) lost to archrival Anderson University Trojans (6-1) 8 to 1 this afternoon in non-conference men's tennis action at the Max Grubbs Memorial Courts.
The Fleet were able to grab one of the three doubles matches.
Jason Harris (Benoni, South Africa, Christian Brothers College) and
Wilson Mathewes (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) fought hard to beat Nicolas Ascarrunz and Juan Carracedo 9 to 8 at #1 doubles.
Alan Pearce (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) and
Andre Andre (Setubal, Portugal) also played well, but lost a close match 8 to 6 at #2 doubles.
The Fleet were swept in straight sets in all six singles matches. Andre nearly won his first set, falling 7 to 5 and dropped his second set 6 to 3.
Erskine will play at Newberry College on Wednesday starting at 3:00 p.m.
