Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (2-6) were defeated 8 to 1 by the Jaguars of Georgia Regents University of Augusta this afternoon in non-conference men's tennis action at the Erskine College Tennis Complex.
 
The Fleet fell behind quickly, dropping all three doubles matches.  Jason Harris (Benoni, South Africa, Christian Brothers College) and Wilson Mathewes (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) saw their six match win streak come to an end, losing 8 to 4 to Romain Ferreira and Moritz Gehlhaus.
 
The Fleet forced two of the six singles matches to three sets.  Mathewes overcame a 2-6 loss in his first set to win the next two sets 6-3 and 7-5 to secure the Fleet's lone point in the match.  Alan Pearce (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) fought back after losing his first set to win the second set but fell in the third set.
 
Erskine returns to conference play this Thursday against the visiting Saints of Limestone College.
