Box Score Franklin Springs, Ga. – The Emmanuel College Lions (13-8, 9-5) were happy to escape the visiting Erskine Flying Fleet (9-13, 5-10) 67 to 57 tonight in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action.
While the Fleet never led in the game, the Fleet remained within striking distance the entire game. In the first half, Erskine had several chances to gain the lead. Midway through the opening period, sophomore
Maurice Daniels, Jr. (Spartanburg, SC, Dorman High School) drove the lane for a layup to pull the Fleet within two points at 18 to 16. Daniels finished with a team-high 14 points. Later on a steal by
Brandon Wilkerson (Summerville, SC, Summerville High School),
Ray Lock (Aiken, SC, Oak Hill Academy) got a breakaway dunk to keep the Fleet within four points. Lock tallied 13 points in the game. Emmanuel got their lead to seven points at 35 to 28 at halftime.
In the second half, Erskine continued to play hard, much to dismay of host Emmanuel. Emmanuel managed to extend their lead to double-digits late, only to see the Fleet threaten again. Emmanuel held on to win the game 67 to 57.
