DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College men's basketball team (0-26, 0-20 CC) was defeated by Shorter University (10-16, 8-12 CC) on Senior Night in overtime by a score of 72-64 at Belk Arena on Wednesday night.
Prior to the game, Erskine honored its senior class:
Anthony Phillips, Jr.,
KD Gordon,
Valerian Bruce,
DJ Douglas, and
Quintel Johnson.
The Fleet battled the Hawks closely throughout the evening in their regular season finale and a bucket from
Valerian Bruce gave Erskine a 60-57 lead with just over a minute to go in regulation. However, Shorter connected on a game-tying three pointer on the ensuing possession, and although the Fleet got a stop the next time down the floor to force overtime, the visitors opened the extra period on a 7-0 run as Erskine lost a heartbreaker for the second time in three days.
