DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College men's basketball team (0-25, 0-20 CC) was defeated by Paine College (9-10) in overtime by a score of 57-55 at Belk Arena on Monday night.
Erskine led for the first nearly the entirety of the first 38 minutes of the game, starting on a 22-7 run, but could not withstand late push from Paine.
Valerian Bruce's free throw in the final seconds of regulation forced overtime, and the Fleet regained their lead at the 1:37 mark of the extra period, but a game-winning basket from the Lions with less than five seconds to go handed Erskine another heartbreaking loss on its home floor.
