Box Score Due West, S.C. – After a six day layoff, the Erskine Flying Fleet (7-1) returned to the hardwood to defeat the Cobras of Coker College (0-6) 3 to 1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22) tonight in non-conference men's volleyball action at Belk Arena.
The Fleet showed a little rust in their play, committing a season-high 22 service errors along with a season-high 11 service reception errors.
Despite the errors, the Fleet still hit .278 on the night. Junior setter
Michael Schneck (Milwaukee, WI, Marquette University High School) led the Fleet offensively handing out 40 kills along with 7 kills. Sophomore
Roberto Perez (Dorado, P.R., Bayamon Military Academy) was the main target from Schneck, knocking down a game-high 20 kills. Teammate
Mike Michelau (Trevor, WI, Westosha Central High School) contributed 14 kills, 5 digs and 3 blocks.
The Cobras got a team-high 18 kills from Artur Cabral and 6 digs.
Erskine travels this Friday to College Station, Pennsylvania, to play powerhouse Penn State University. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
