Due West, S.C. – After several weather postponements the Erskine Flying Fleet (0-3, 0-2) finally got back on the court, losing to King University Tornado (3-6, 2-1) 6 to 3 this afternoon in Conference Carolinas men's tennis action at the Erskine College Tennis Complex.
After playing the three doubles matches, the Fleet trailed the Tornado 2 to 1.
Jason Harris (Benoni, South Africa, Christian Brothers College) and
Wilson Mathewes (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) waltzed to an 8-0 victory at #1 doubles. The Fleet were nipped in the other two doubles matches 8-4 and 8-5.
Erskine won two of the six singles matches for their other two points. Both Harris and
Andre Andre (Setubal, Portugal) won in straight sets at #2 and #4 singles. Mathewes forced a third set by winning his second set 6 to 1 but lost his third set 6-4.
Erskine travels on Monday to face their archrival Anderson University on Monday at 3:00 p.m.
