Box Score Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (9-19, 5-15) concluded their regular season with a 62 to 43 loss to the visiting Emmanuel College Lions (17-10, 13-7) tonight in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action at Belk Arena.
While playing their characteristic strong defense, the Fleet struggled on the offensive end, shooting a woeful 4 of 22 in the first half. The Fleet missed their first six shots from the field. Freshman
Thomas Cameron (Atlanta, GA, Norcross High School) scored the Fleet's first field goal on a nice move in the post for a reserve layup. By halftime, Erskine trailed 29 to 15.
Erskine shot much better in the second period, going 11 of 25 from the floor, but could not overcome the fourteen point first half deficit.
Justin Cofer (Evans, GA, Greenbrier High School) and freshman
Ray Lock (Aiken, SC, Oak Hill Academy) brought the home crowd to their feet late in the second half. Cofer took a Lion miss, raced the length of the court and fed Lock the ball for a massive dunk, drawing the foul.
Luke Miller led the Lions with a game-high 13 points while Michael Stanley contributed 12 points with 7 rebounds.
DeShaun Hall (Inman, SC, Landrum High School) led the Fleet both in scoring and on the boards. The senior guard scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in his last game in Belk Arena.
Fellow seniors Justin Cofer and
Isaac Williamson (Walhalla, SC, Walhalla High School) also started and played significant minutes in the game.
Erskine earned the #8 seed in the upcoming conference tournament and will travel to play #1 and 13
th ranked University of Mount Olive this Saturday. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
