Box Score Due West, S.C. – Erskine honored the memory and legacy of former Head Men's Basketball Coach W.C. "Red" Myers yesterday. Coach Myers, who passed away in 2012, is Erskine's all-time winningest basketball coach.
Each year Erskine plays in the "Red Myers Classic" in tribute to Coach Myers. The Classic is funded in part by his former players, many of who were on hand yesterday for the event. At halftime, Coach Myers' Hall of Fame Citation was read and his former players and wife honored. In the picture are (from left to right): Mike Jordan, Skip Norris, Richard Oates, Sammy Oates, Dusty Oates, Don Whitehead, Melvin Brewton, Chris Bethea, Ken Whitehead, Tim Whipple, Willie Rawl, Jim Bradford, Mac Myers (Coach Myers' wife), Skip Goley, Bill Simpson, Keith Brown, and Dick Haldeman (former Erskine PR and Sports Information Director).
This season Erskine hosted #17 ranked University of Mount Olive Trojans. Erskine fell behind early but made a run in the second half. Erskine lost to UMO 64 to 53.
Freshman post players
Ray Lock (Aiken, SC, Oak Hill Academy) and
Thomas Cameron (Atlanta, GA, Norcross High School) combined to score a team-high 17 points each while grabbing 9 and 8 rebounds respectively. It was a career-high for Cameron.
