Box Score Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (11-10, 9-6) fell to the Trojans of the University of Mount Olive (9-12, 7-8) in a spirited physical contest 70 to 64 this afternoon in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action at Belk Arena.
 
After eight lead changes in the opening half, the Fleet were outscored 6 to 1 in the final minutes of the opening half and never regained the lead.  The Trojans' got back-to-back baskets from Leah Graham and the Fleet misfired on their next two possessions to give the Trojans the five point lead at intermission.
 
In the second half, Erskine stayed within striking distance but could not draw no closer than three points.  Trailing by eight points midway through the second period, Erskine guard Raygon Hendrix (Summerville, SC, Pinewood Preparatory School) scored five straight points, two off free throws and the other on a 3-point shot, to pull the Fleet to within three at 43 to 40.
 
Mount Olive responded with their own run, extending their lead to as many as twelve points before settling on the six point victory.
 
Erskine had three players finish in double-figures, led by sophomore guard Ashley Espinosa's 17 points. Espinosa (Reading, PA, Governor Mifflin High School) also had 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in the game.  Senior Andrienne Bannerman (Wilmington, NC, Pender High School) came off the bench to post her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Fellow senior Tara Potter (Charlotte, NC, Bandys High School) just missed her own double-double, scoring 10 points while grabbing 9 rebounds.
 
The Trojans were led by Arieal Johnson's double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds.  Tommarah Harris added 21 points.
 
Erskine travels to Franklin Springs, Georgia, on Tuesday to play Emmanuel College.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
