Erskine loses to #9 Limestone

Box Score Gaffney, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (7-7, 5-3) lost to #9 Limestone College Saints (13-1, 8-0) tonight 90 to 59 in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action at the Timkin Center.
 
Senior Tara Potter (Charlotte, NC, Bandys High School) was the lone bright spot for the Fleet, scoring a team-high 20 points in the loss.  Potter was the only Fleet player to reach double-figures, marking the second time this season she has surpassed 20 or more points in a game.
 
The Saints, who never trailed in the game, scored the game's first ten points.  Sophomore Kristin Giles (Union, SC, Union County High School) snapped the Fleet's scoreless streak with her first of two 3-point baskets.
 
After following behind by fourteen points, Erskine closed to within five points with five minutes remaining.  Potter led the Fleet charge, tallying six consecutive points.
 
Unfortunately the Saints outscored the Fleet 17 to 5 to end the first half.
 
Erskine never threatened in the second half as Limestone cruised to the 90 to 59 win.
 
Limestone had four players score in double-figures, led by Jasmine Kearse's game-high 23 points.
 
Erskine will look to rebound from the loss at home on Tuesday against in-state conference foe Converse College.   Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
