Erskine pounds Converse 12 to 5 to set new win record

Box Score Due West, S.C. – On Senior Day, the Erskine Flying Fleet (7-7, 1-4) pounded the Valkyries of Converse College (7-8, 1-4) 12 to 5 in Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse action at Huggins Field.  With the win, Erskine sets a new school-record for wins in a season.

After falling behind 2 to 1 early, Erskine tightened their defense and scored four unanswered goals to lead 5 to 2 at intermission.  Following the two Converse goals, Erskine limited Converse to just two shots through the reminder of the half.

Erskine surrendered a quick goal to Converse to open the second half then rattled off seven unanswered goals.  The Fleet did not yield another goal to the Valkyries until the nine minute mark. 

Erskine limited Converse to just 14 shots in the game while firing off 22 shots.

Junior Samantha Burns (Hilton Head Island, SC, Hilton Head Island High School) led the Fleet with 5 goals and an assist.  Freshman Ali Cole (Duluth, GA, Duluth High School) added three goals and an assist as well.  All three seniors, Kelly Dalziel (Ocean, NJ, Ocean Township High School), Ashlee Williams (Martinez, GA, Lakeside High School), and Sarah Tibbits (Marietta, GA, Sprayberry High School), tallied a goal as well.

The Valkyries had four players score a goal with Amelia Helm contributing two goals. 

Erskine hosts Lees-McRae College tomorrow starting at 4:00 p.m.
