Notre Dame College clips Erskine 12-10

Box Score Due West, S.C. – Four years ago the Notre Dame College Falcons smashed the Erskine Flying Fleet winning 21 to 1.  This year Notre Dame College was happy to escape Huggins Field with a 12 to 10 victory over the Flying Fleet in non-conference women's lacrosse action.

In the first half, the largest lead by either team was two goals in favor of Notre Dame College.  Erskine trimmed it to one goal after freshman Cory Hunteman (Annapolis, MD, Broadneck Senior High School) converted on a free position opportunity with just over a minute left in the period.  Notre Dame College led Erskine 6 to 5 at intermission.

The Falcons mounted the game's first significant run, scoring five consecutive goals to open the second half.  Trailing by six, Erskine increased their intensity on both ends of the field and scored four unanswered goals to trim the lead to two with under six minutes left to play.  Senior Kelly Dalziel (Ocean, NJ, Ocean Township High School) led the Fleet rally, scoring two of the four goals.

The Falcons spread the field to work the clock forcing the Fleet to extend their defense.  The Falcons took advantage of Erskine's defense to score their final point.

Erskine's Samantha Burns (Hilton Head Island, SC, Hilton Head Island High School) scored the Fleet's last goal with 13 seconds left to make the final score 12 to 10.

Both Burns and Ali Cole (Duluth, GA, Duluth High School) finished with 3 goals each while Dalziel and Hunteman scored 2 apiece.  Cole also had two assists.  Erskine goalkeeper Konstandena Brown (Wilmington, NC, John T. Hoggard High School) recorded a season-high 13 saves on 31 shots.

For the Falcons, Kristen Hull tallied a game-high four goal and teammate Brooke Czarnecki had three goals.  Madalyn Dewling had a game-high 3 assists.

Erskine hosts Brevard College this Saturday starting at noon.
