Erskine loses to Pfeiffer 3-2; snaps 11-game win streak

Box Score Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (15-6, 9-2) lost to Pfeiffer University (10-11, 7-4) 3 to 2 (25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 17-25, 14-16) to snap their 11 game win streak tonight in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball action at Belk Arena.

After splitting the first four sets, the match was decided on the final two points.  In the decisive fifth set, the two teams battled to a 14 to 14 tie.  Pfeiffer won the next two points, one on a kill by David Specian and the other on a Fleet attack error to win the match 3 to 2.

Freshman Roberto Perez Vargas (Dorado, P.R., Bayamon Military Academy) knocked down a career-high 21 kills on a .326 hitting percentage to lead the Fleet attack.  Sophomore Mike Michelau (Trevor, WI, Westosha Central High School) played a superb game, posting a double-double with 18 kills and 11 digs.  Sophomore setter Corey Marks (Southwest Ranches, FL, Archbishop Edward McCarthy High School) also earned a double-double with 48 assists and 12 digs.

The Falcons were led by Micheal Brewer's 12 kills while teammate Sonny Hirini posted a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. 

Erskine will step out of conference to play their final non-conference match this Thursday at home against Coker College.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
