Due West, S.C. – After missing the conference tournament last year, the Erskine Women's Basketball Team has put themselves not only in a position to possibly clinch a spot in the tournament this Saturday but also take a step toward hosting in the first round. 

Going into this weekend's matchup against Lees-McRae, the Flying Fleet (12-8, 7-5) are currently 5^th in the standings, a half-game ahead of Lees-McRae (9-11, 6-5) and a half-game behind fourth place King University.  The top four teams earn the right to host in the opening round of the conference tournament set to begin on March 1^st.

The Fleet can clinch a spot in the tournament with a win and either a Pfeiffer loss on Saturday or North Greenville losing tonight and Saturday. 

The Fleet are coming off a tough road loss Wednesday night to King University, who now owns the tie-breaker over the Fleet having won both games this season. 

Junior post player Tara Potter (Charlotte, NC, Bandys High School) has now posted back-to-back double-doubles, averaging 24 points and 11 rebounds, evidence that she has recovered from her leg injury that forced her to miss two games back in January.

The Bobcats of Lees-McRae have dropped their last two games, both by double-figures, to Pfeiffer and Limestone.  LMC hosts Converse tonight, which if they win, will push them into a tie with the Fleet in the conference standings for Saturday's contest.

The Bobcats have three players averaging double-figures, led by sharpshooter Alyssa Munson's 14.1 points per game.  Fellow guard Lauren Lewis is second on the team, averaging 13.1 points per game while forward Keri Belcher leads the team in rebounds with 8.5 boards per game and contributes 10.7 points per game.
