Box Score Due West, S.C. – Erskine's
Roderick Perkins (Smyrna, GA, Campbell High School) scored a game-high 23 points in a 72 to 61 loss to the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College tonight in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action at Belk Arena.
Both teams overcame six point deficits in the opening period to finish tied at halftime 31 to 31.
In the second half, the Crusaders could not miss, shooting a stellar 61% from the floor, including 3 of 7 from long range. The Fleet, meanwhile, do not shot poorly, going 11 of 26 (41%), but could not slow the Crusaders, who had four players finish in double-figures.
Ray Chen led the Crusaders, going 7 of 10 from the field, to score 20 points. Teammate Darryl Durham scored 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting and pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds.
Senior
Jake Haslam (Lithia, FL, Tampa Preparatory School) was the only other Fleet player to finish in double-digits, contributing 12 points.
Prior to the game, Erskine recognized the contributions of nine graduating seniors to the Erskine men's basketball program.
Erskine will wrap up their regular season this Thursday against Pfeiffer University. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
