Box Score Tigerville, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (13-11, 8-8) snapped a four-game losing skid, blowing out the Crusaders of North Greenville University (9-16, 5-12) 87 to 61 this afternoon in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action at Hayes Gymnasium.
Erskine scored the game's first three baskets and never looked back, building a twelve point lead by halftime. Erskine extended their lead to as many as twenty-eight points at one point in the second half. In the end, fourteen Fleet players played in the game with nine players scoring a point.
Erskine had four players finish in double-figures, led by career-high 20 points by
Marnasha Eugene (Lithonia, GA, Stephenson High School). It is just the third time the freshman has scored in double-digits this season. Fellow freshman
Raygon Hendrix (Summerville, SC, Pinewood Preparatory School) tossed in 19 points while junior post player
Tara Potter (Charlotte, NC, Bandys High School) added 18 points along with 8 rebounds. Sophomore
Andrienne Bannerman (Wilmington, NC, Pender High School) came off the bench to contribute 10 points.
Erskine was led on the boards by freshman
Naomi Stuger (Marietta, GA, Kell High School), who grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
The Crusaders were led by Alisha Hope's 19 points and 8 rebounds. Timisty Nelson contributed 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
With the win, Erskine stays in contention to host in the first round but will need help to do so.
Erskine plays their last two regular season games at home. The first game is Tuesday against Belmont Abbey for Senior Night. Senior basketball players from both teams will be honored between games. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
