Perskins' double-double powers Erskine past NGU 79-63

Box Score Tigerville, S.C. – Roderick Perkins' double-double powered the Flying Fleet (13-10, 7-7) past North Greenville University Crusaders (14-12, 7-8) 79 to 63 in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action at Hayes Gymnasium.

With seven minutes remaining in the opening period, Perkins (Smyrna, GA, Campbell High School) scored the game's next eight points to give the Flying Fleet the lead they would never relinquish.  Perkins ignited the run with an old fashioned three-point then followed with a three point basket and a layup off a steal by teammate Brandon Willkerson (Summerville, SC, Summerville High School).

In the second half, Erskine built their lead to as many as nineteen points before settling with the sixteen point win at 79 to 63.

Perkins finished with a game-high 31 points and 13 rebounds.  He also had 3 blocks and 2 steals.

Senior marksman Jake Haslam (Lithia, FL, Tampa Preparatory School) had 17 points, 15 coming from long-range, while senior Justin Cofer (Evans, GA, Greenbrier High School) tallied 11 points.

For the Crusaders, Micah Parker had 18 points and teammate Chris Dean had 13 points.
 
Erskine has two games remaining in their regular season, both games at home.  Erskine hosts Belmont Abbey for Senior Night this Tuesday.  Senior basketball players will be honored between the women and men's basketball games.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
